Blackboard has updated their SafeAssign service. This does not require any changes on our part but you may notice some changes/improvements to the service. According to Blackboard:
The SafeAssign central service has just been updated. The following SafeAssign issues were addressed in this update:
- SafeAssign server memory leak issue resulting in November outages. Resolved.
- Download of individual original documents for submissions fails when using Internet Explorer. Resolved
- In some cases In CE6/Vista Student View, Instructor access to SafeAssign in Student View results in error message. Resolved
- In some cases on CE6/Vista when accessing SafeAssign on screen error messages result and access to SafeAssign fails. Resolved
- In some cases SafeAssign fails to register with the SafeAssign central service. Resolved
The bottom line is that some of the hiccups encountered when using the Student View have apparently been resolved and the changes made by Blackboard should improve the availability of this service when you go to use it next semester.

Hi there,
I have been unable to access my Graduate seminar course “learning blackboard” for 2 days now. Is there any reason for this?

No, nothing has been changed to our server or firewall between mid-November and the update performed today (Thursday, January 24th) at 7 a.m. which went well with no reported problems.
I would recommend contacting our HelpDesk at 603.535.2929 or helpdesk AT plymouth.edu to check your local system settings. If you are trying to connect to Blackboard from a school or corporate network, you might need to consult with your network administrator as these entities often have very restrictive firewall settings.

Today, Jan. 6, 2009, I can’t find the “my courses” tab to get into my Adv. Comp. course. Am I blind? Is it gone?
